Dolan is correct to state God's commandment concerning the stranger in the land. It is interesting that he and others who use scripture to support their position fail to state that the Bible also states the stranger is to keep the laws of the land he entered into to be considered a legitimate inhabitant of that land (Exodus 12:48-49). Entering the land illegally appears to be breaking this instruction.
Cherry-picking indeed. John 10:1-2 quoting Jesus:
1 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep.
